Exactly 29 years after the liberation of the Netherlands from German occupation, director Frans Bromet takes his Jewish father, his mother, his uncle, and his aunt on a trip to the point where the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany meet. Here, on the 4th of May, they commemorate the victims of the war. Later that day Bromet persuades his father to cross the German border the next day. His father agrees, despite his pledge in 1931 never to set foot in that country again, and despite the fact that most of his family was killed by the Germans during the war. Where three countries meet is at a first glance a report of an ordinary outing, but is definitely much more.
