Festival history

is a film about a school for deaf children in Margate, England. It pictures teachers, working intensely and with devotion with children between four and seven years old that have never heard a sound or word. At times in the film, the recording tape is silent: like the children we are forced to read lips and listen and to what the children hear - silence.
The children try to overcome their handicap with the help of the teachers, a process that involves great confusion and isolation but also great joy when a child manages to produce a word, a sound.
