His career as a musician got off to a promising start, but in 2004 the critically acclaimed young Polish cellist Dominik Polonski received a diagnosis that would change his life for good: he had a brain tumor and the outlook was bleak. Following several surgeries and a long period of rehabilitation, he can still only use one arm. Nevertheless, Polonski focuses not on what he has lost, but on what is still possible. follows him in his life so far. We watch from very close by as he plays the cello alone, cares for his beloved instrument and has it restored, plays chess with his daughter and shares valuable life lessons with her. We also see him with his wife and newborn son. Music still plays a huge role in his life. He starts to perform again, but no longer the works of the classical masters. Now he plays modern pieces written specially for him – music he brings to life with passion and verve.
