Like Kevin Rafferty demonstrated in the ATOMIC CAFE, his classic film compilation of American publicity films from the Cold War, the American propaganda machine is an industry in itself. DUCKTATORS is edited along similar lines and consists of animated and other cartoons from World War II, drawing an portrait of the war as it was seen through American and Japanese eyes. Creator Wolter Braamhorst (1963) studied history at Utrecht State University in the Netherlands and at the University of Florida in the United States. Since 1989 he is active as a programme maker for AVRO television. After his retirement, Guus van Waveren (Amsterdam, 1933) kept working as a free-lance director of documentaries.
