The War Game
Peter Watkins
England
1965
47 min
In The War game, Peter Watkins envisages an imaginary nuclear attack on South england, in order to jolt awake and warn mankind for the dangers of nuclear arms. The film shows all the terrors brought about by such an attack. By utilizing a handcamera and newsreel techniques the film-maker has tried to give an authentic impression. The fact that the attack was dramatized, however, puts some doubt on the accuracy of things.
