One day, while hunting with his father and brother, Nyanga is captured in a net. Kidnapped, he is transported by ship to America. While at sea, he begins to wonder whether he will ever be able to return home.
In Mexico, he is forced to work for a plantation owner. His feelings of uncertainty, humiliation and frustration are strong, but his desire to become free again is always stronger. Inspired by a dream, he prepares an escape, after which he and other enslaved people are not able to return home—but they at least succeed in regaining their freedom.
With surprising shadow play and handmade animation, this short film pays tribute to revolution and resistance.
