You can walk through your body, and the memories stored within can be visualized, much like the wounds inflicted upon Mother Earth over centuries of exploitation and violence. In a vibrant, multi-sensory evening, artists Eva Spierenburg, Ana Bravo Pérez, and Richtje Reinsma allow us to experience the interconnectedness of body and landscape. Through performance, sound, film, scent, storytelling, and the gentle movement of pencil on paper, visitors are enraptured.
About the artists
Ana Bravo Pérez explores migration, memory, and violence in her work, drawing from her own diaspora experiences to examine suppressed narratives and collective histories. In "The Landscape Within Us," Bravo Pérez's film "Mother Earth’s Inner Organs" will be screened.
Eva Spierenburg shapes human experiences that transcend language and comprehension, expressing personal matters and memories to seek the shared humanity. This evening, Spierenburg presents works such as "Tracing the Body" and "Documenting the Body," incorporating spatial elements with an auditory component.
Richtje Reinsma writes, draws, and creates installations and performances, with language being a crucial element. Often drawing from vulnerable and intimate experiences, both her own and others', Reinsma's work is rooted in personal existence. Visitors to "The Landscape Within Us" will have the opportunity to experience a special rendition of Reinsma’s "Skin Walk."
