Advocacy

In 2018, IDFA's artistic director Orwa Nyrabia took the initiative to launch the International Coalition of Filmmakers at Risk (ICFR), in cooperation with the European Film Academy (EFA) and the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). Its mission is to advocate for and to act in solidarity with filmmakers at severe and acute risk. The Coalition acts in cases of persecution or threats to the personal safety of these filmmakers and will defend their right to continue their work, by mobilising the international film community.
