Festival history

Film maker Josephson made under the authority of the Military Command and the Committee for Frisian trade and industry. These two commissioners wanted a film about the reconstruction in Friesland. In an often witty setting, utilizing many staged scenes, Josephson portrayed Frisians who put their province in working order again and revivified it, after the liberation. The edifying comment urged the population to do its bit. There was ploughing and sowing to be done, and the livestock had to be brought up to standard, so Friesland could fulfil its duty in the reconstruction of Holland: feeding the rest of the population. is a clear example of a documentary that had to stimulate the people's activities with its aura. The rest of a weary population had to be pepped up. The documentary was one of the media lending itself excellently for this purpose.
