Liberty Street Blues

1988
is a musical journey through New Orleans. But the emphasis this time is not on the famous Dixieland, but rather on New Orleans jazz. This music is closely identified with the African and Caribbean roots of black people. It developed shortly after the American Civil War with disarmament when spontaneous street parties were held to celebrate the newly found freedom. Nowadays these parties with their musicians, clowns and dancers, form an integral part of the social life of the Black community in New Orleans.
