Festival history

In the last ten years the number of well-educated unmarried mothers of over thirty has tripled. For whatever reason, these women have consciously chosen to raise their children alone. The man's role as a husband and father is played out, only his sperm matters. Why is it that so many women give up the search for Mr. Right and follow their biological clock? Rebecca (38) is looking for a father through the personal ads. She feels that her future child has a right to know who his or her father is. Others choose an anonymous donor at a sperm bank, for fear of possible tugs-of-love. Like Lea (32), but she thinks about giving up after nine months of fruitless inseminations. Anne (39) is pregnant by her ex-friend and thinks that every woman who really wants a child should have one, even if she does not have a relationship. Ms.Conceptions is a humorous documentary about changing values and standards with respect to relationships and family life. Apart from a few serious moments there are some hilarious outings to the sperm industry, where women can enter a desired donor profile into the computer, and where sperm bankers brag against each other about the quality of their product. The ironic undercurrent is emphasised by the apt music and the sharp editing. Keep watching until the end of the credits!
